Boi Nghia Tran, Ph.D.

Boi N. Tran, is currently with Advanced Systems and Technology - Phantoms Works Research Organization for the Boeing Company (Recently merged with Mc Donnell Douglas on August 4, 1997). He works in many diverse research areas related to flight vehicles: active control, neural networks, fuzzy logic, optimization/simulation, CFD/CAA computational tools, stability/control/flying qualities, materials and smart structures, etc. He works on many NASA and DOD projects. He also overseesthe sub-division computing and network requirements/ projections for the high-demand distributed/parallel computing needs between NASA and in-house systems.

Dr. Tran received the BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees from University of California at Irvine in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His majors are signal processing, control, communication/information theory (under Dr. A. Viberti), and computer architecture; and minors in Computer Networks, Functional Analysis and Stochastic Processes.

Dr. Tran is actively teaching at various local universities on subjects of how to apply technology to management and education. He also consults on those areas as well as in the biomedical devices area. He has helped and chaired the telecommunication and worshop sessions in the VTIC'97 at San Jose, CA. In 1996, he also helped local engineering society (VASPES) to organize a technical conference held at University of California at Irvine with the theme: "Vietnamese-American Contributions in Science and Technology in the past 20 years."
