VIEN NGUYEN, Ph.D.

Dr. Vien Nguyen is an Associate Professor of Management Science at the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Currently, she is a Visiting Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Business, Columbia University. Prof. Nguyen holds an AB in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College and a PhD in Operations Research from Stanford University. Her research and teaching focus on the use of probabilistic methodologies for modeling, analyzing, and optimizing systems that operate in a dynamic and uncertain environment. She has addressed problems in the areas telecommunications, manufacturing and product development, and has worked with several firms on associated issues, including IBM, Polaroid, BayNetworks, Alcoa, ThermalKem, and Schlumberger. Prof. Nguyen has published in journals such as Managemenet Science, Operations Research, Annals of Applied Probability, and Harvard Business Review. She is currently serving as an Associate Editor for the journals Management Science and Operations Research.
