VO VAN TOI, Ph.D.

Vo Van Toi, born in Saigon, was a student of Vo Truong Toan High School and Dai Hoc Khoa Hoc in Saigon. He received the Engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree in Micro-Engineering both from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland. His Engineering degree thesis topic concerned with the development of a concept of a miniaturized camera zoom. His doctoral thesis topic concerned the study of the color mechanism of the human visual system. He was a post-doctorate in Biomedical Engineering at Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he involved in the development of implantable neural transducers, using microelectronics technology. Dr. Vo has been with Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts since 1984. Currently he is a Professor at the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department and Director of the Biomedical Engineering Program at Tufts University. His research interests include human visual system, ophthalmology, biomedical instrumentation design and application of solar energy. He is the author of many scientific publications and patents.
