NGUYEN HUU XUONG, Ph.D.

Nguyen Huu Xuong received his B.S.E.E. from Ecole Electricite Industielle de Marseille, Marseille, France; M.S.E.E. from Ecole Superieure d'Electricite, Paris, France; M.S. in Mathematics from Univeristy of Paris, Paris, France; M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, Dr. Xuong is a full professor of Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Prior to joining UCSD, he was with Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, Berkeley, CA. Dr. Xuong received numerous awards, namely, Guggnheim Fellowship (1965-1966), NATO Fellowship (1977), Fogerty Fellowship (Unable to accept, 1984), Union of Pacific Asian Communities Award (1985), and UCSD Chancellor Associate Award (1992). He was a keynote speaker for the Asian Pacific American Heritage Week, Department of the Navy, Shipbuilding, San Francisco CA, 1992. He served as the President of the Vietnemese Alliance Association, 1976-1992 and was the chair man of the Boat People SOS Committee, 1980-1990.
