CALL FOR PAPERS

"Technology and Industry: Beginning of A New Era"

The Vietnamese Association of Computing, Engineering, Technology and Science (VACETS) is holding a scientific meeting on August 4 & 5, 2000, at San Jose State University, San Jose, California, USA.

The organizing committee of VTIC2000 invites contributions in, but not limited to, the following areas:

For Technical and Tutorials:

  1. Biomedical and Biochemical Technologies
  2. Computer Systems and Applications
  3. Energy and Environmental Technologies
  4. Materials and Manufacturing Technologies
  5. Mathematics and Physics.
  6. Microelectronics
  7. Space Technologies
  8. Telecommunications
  9. Other Sciences, Engineering and Technologies

For a Workshop Forum:

  1. Industry-academic relation as applied to the Vietnamese professionals and students
  2. Effective networking among Vietnamese professionals and students.
  3. How to prepare ourselves for the technical challenges of the 21st century.
  4. How to prepare our children for a technical career in the 21st century.

For Panel Discussions:

  1. Impact of technology of the next millennium on society and lifestyle.
  2. Electronic Commerce.
  3. Impact of new medical discoveries and techniques on healthcare systems.

Abstracts, suggestions, and inquiries should be sent to Prof. Nguyen Van Trung, Technical Program Chair, at [email protected] and Mr. James T. Lap, Chair of Publication, at [email protected] no later than April 15, 2000. Full paper must be submit no later than May 15, 2000. Please indicate the area and forum (technical, tutorial, workshop, or panel discussion) you prefer for your submission.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

Submissions must be in English on the official form (downloadable) via electronic mail to Prof. Nguyen V. Trung or Mr. James T. Lap, and should be attached to the E-mail message using Word 7 or Word 97 for Windows.

Please note the following instructions for the preparation of papers:

1. Papers must be typed in single spacing, 12-pitch character, and 'portrait' page set-up

2. Size limits: Document borders should form a rectangle of 13 cm (5.2") width and 18 cm (7.4") length. It should include the title, author(s), and affiliation.

3. Page limit: Papers should contain no more than 15 pages total.

4. Format:

(a) Font: We recommend Helvetica size 10.
(b) Title should be typed in capital letters.
(c) Graphics, tables and charts within the paper are accepted.
(d) Please do not send separated photographs.
(e) Please make sure that all information requested on the paper also appears on your e-mail (i.e. full address for return correspondence, requested symposia title etc.)
